The United States has a long history of stripping citizenship from people *who previously had it*. @amandafrost.bsky.social wrote a whole book on it. These groups included white women who married immigrant spouses, African Americans, ideological and wartime dissidents--all in the US.

In 1907, the Expatriation Act required that any American woman who married a foreigner would take on her husband's nationality, losing her U.S. citizenship.
