One thing I think about a lot with electrification is cost. If people/govs get overcharged then it will hold it up, maybe even stop it. I know many of the buildings listed here are pretty big, but $1.9M for just 10 buildings is a LOT. www.ithacajournal.com/story/news/2...

Thanks for the link. It's very interesting that Electrical Reliability is a key point. When I lived there I had gas heat, but if electric went out then it would have stopped working, so I can be pretty sure there were no long outages during winter. I wonder if that's changed.

Ah that makes sense. I hadn't heard they'd been changed. The city's GND website doesn't seem to indicate it's being rewritten and web searches just show the climate justice amendment to it from May. www.cityofithaca.org/642/Green-Ne...

I'm not even sure what CAP and GND mean in your skeet, so likely no, but I might just be tired.

And props to Will's Vegan Store for producing stylish vegan boots that are also warm and waterproof. These are my go to shoes as soon as it's under 60 F and they don't care about rain at all. They're not cheap, but they're great. us.wills-vegan-shoes.com/products/veg...

Also can I again shout out how amazing eBikes are. My family gets along fine with just 1 car because of them. Today my wife needed the car and I needed to go see a US senator. This eBike and rain gear made it possible

It's amazing how far PFAS free rain gear has come. I had to take a ride in the rain today and this kit kept me totally dry. I had to order the coat from Finland cause the US brands were still doing PFAS, but it looks like they're finally starting to phase this forever chemical out of production.

Curious what will happen with Ithaca's building electrification plans now.
