I thought this was general (where it would make sense), but shockingly only about 940k out of 3400k active registered dems voted in the primary.

Is there anything Josh Gottheimer is not wrong about?

Rat here. Before the shacks, I got nowhere to live.

I'm doing two separate things: 1. RCV is a better system than first past the post; 2. the strategy of establishing a single progressive candidate in presence of RCV is bad. The strategy didn't fail: in 2021 Eric Adams would've won under any system, he was objectively the most popular candidate.

I'm not asking any questions. I'm positing very specifically that in presence of RCV it is not a good idea to pit the progressive against each other so that we can run a single candidate. And your answer to this was effectively I was too dumb to explain why I was wrong. But please, teach me ethics.

The original post was about leftists and progressives consolidating behind a single candidate. Were you making a more generic claim? I didn’t realize.

That’s ok, and kudos, not a lot of people would be brave enough to admit all they have is vibes, but not a coherent way to explain their thoughts to others

We've been given a superior voting system that no longer makes the progressive project defy the very long odds against the consolidated NY dem machine. Let's ignore it and pit all the progressive candidates against each other as early as possible.

I get the point that a single candidate would carry the message better, but that’s fantasy, we don’t have a single candidate! We won’t have a single candidate. Progressives couldn’t even field a single candidate against Dan Goldman where it mattered. Why would they do it with RCV?

Eric Adams won despite the RCV! He was the most popular candidate in the race. He would’ve won more decidedly without it. What progressives need to do is educate people about not ranking candidates they disagree with at all, there was probably 1-2% of ballots that were this way.
