Always exceptions, of course but male hairdressers tending to wealthy women customers in their homes was the norm. As with male tailors taking the measure, drafting the pattern, building and fitting new stays to female customers.
Demographics tend to show more men trained into hairdressing and wigmaking trades. As to customers, generally speaking men wore wigs, women rarely did, while women used hairdressers and men did not.
