Not often you find a Kestrel depredated by a raptor. Female Sparrowhawk or Goshawk, hmmm?! #ukbirding

I've long been a gear geek - optics, tripods, clothing - I'm obsessed with it all. I've helped design optics, jackets and more and I love to share and hear others' views on their birding gear. So, I've set up this Feed, Birding Gear, for just that. Tag your posts #BirdingGear to contribute!

The poster wearing a beige shirt (Lesvos Birding logo on the arm featuring a stylised Little Owl), black and white cammo neck scarf (buff) and khaki green peaked hat with a pair of green binoculars around his neck on a wide, black neck strap. I am using my iPhone with an adaptor on my tripod-mounted spotting scope to film Crag Martin in Lesvos, Greece.

Where are the BTO Cuckoos now? 🤔 10 Cuckoos are in Africa, Cuach Torc seems to be heading south once more after his visit to Germany, and we’ve sadly had to say goodbye to Trent. Follow their journeys ➡️ www.bto.org/cuckoos#BTOScience#Ornithology

Map of the locations of BTO tagged Cuckoos with the wording. BTO Cuckoo Tracking. Update September: 10 Cuckoos now in Africa!

Birth certificate, National Insurance Number, email address!

I don't think any institution maintains email addresses, as they're a security risk. Ephemeral email addresses are also a huge problem for journals when trying to trace reviewers etc who have system accounts that have expired, especially for ECRs who tend to be more mobile.

There's a leucistic Wood Pigeon around the Bunk, too, with white wings & tail.

The pains of moving away from your old local patch of 20 yrs, but still keeping tabs on it from 220 miles away! Previous 'best birds' were Red-breasted Flycatcher, Great Grey Shrike and Temminck's Stint. Still turning up surprises. #UKbirding
