That's my bloody patch! 😭 😂
Nice. Whereabouts was it?
Rain stopping fieldwork on the Monks Wood Marsh Tit project today, but six new birds colour-ringed yesterday. One juvenile has moved over 1km from other side of the wood since last week, showing how you need to be careful when estimating numbers of unringed birds. #ukbirding#ornithology
21 juvenile Marsh Tits colour-ringed so far this autumn at Monks Wood. Another poor year, sadly typical now. #ornithology
Good number of pairs hasn’t translated into lots of juveniles, probably due to post fledging mortality and low immigration.
Those towns are all remarkably similar. The Swifts are usually in the upper storey of the Costa on the High Street/Broadway that used to be the bank.
The female-type we had 3 weeks ago was in heavy moult, so I guess likely a different bird, but who knows...
And the 'Whinchat' has three legs!
Disappointed to see this poster at a nature reserve - encouraging garden bird feeding- no mention of the risks of disease transmission, and no consideration to competition impacts on Willow Tit and Marsh Tit. And located in a former regional stronghold for both species! #ornithology 🌍
