Speaking after Luke Tryl presented attitudes evidence, and other panelists had made points for staying (Buckland) or threatening to leave to seek reform (Clarke Smith), some of my points were 1. Conservatives are undecided/sceptical about ECHR - but defenders of ECHR need Conservatives

Public intuition is to look at the individual credentials (across national and faith groups) rather than discriminate by group. (Leave use this intuition in 2016) @robfordmancs.bsky.social conducted a BSA experiment to test that. (Culture comes in a bit more with family migration than work/study)

Badenoch says 3 reasons Cons didn't reduce immig (1) relied on civil servants to make decisions, which they didn't want to make - this is just wrong (2) left it to Home Office; other departments wanted immigration - this is true (KB exemplified this) (3) not prepared to talk cultural difference

It’s fascinating to see a member *of the parliamentary Conservative party* convince themselves that “being able to command enough support to form a viable opposition frontbench largely drawn from your allies” is some kinda tricksy barrier to the membership ballot.
