Just curious, do the Harry Potter references continue throughout Only a Bridesmaid, or just near the beginning? I started it, even though I still need to finish an ARC, but I was wondering about the HP thing. Bit of a turnoff for me nowadays.

Sounds like you handled it gracefully. Good for you. I left the discernment process long before I got to that point. Lower key, but once, my priest asked me to assist at the All Hallow’s Eve service, and I agreed without knowing the bishop and priests from throughout the diocese would be there.

I love people who look up a book the minute you tell them about it. I don’t even care if they’re looking at their phones. I told the owner of my local indie bookstore about one of my favorite cozy paranormal sapphic mysteries (Say I Boo by Morgan Spellman), and she searched it while I gushed. 🌈📚
