Well, in psychological studies they’ve found that religion doesn’t inform worldview as much as worldview informs what religious beliefs you gravitate towards. So people don’t like immigrants & then just ignore the Christian teaching that contradicts that & decides Jesus only cares about man’s law.
Or even if they don’t think that, they should at least be able to imagine a world in which it doesn’t actually matter or affect them in any way if other people do.
If you were actually Christian, you’d understand that people are placed on this Earth without any choice in what borders they are behind and have a right to leave them if they want, because nation states are just a construct. Hardcore Christians should be the most pro-immigration.
I’m going to start a lemonade stand on my porch and then get on the Forbes 500 by saying that it’s worth 9 trillion dollars because if I one day put a stand on every street corner in the world, I could sell a cup of lemonade to everyone on Earth.
It’s like when Trump said he was worth $8 billion but not because he possessed $8 billion worth of stuff but because he theoretically thought that if he felt like it he could get a bunch of people to pay him a total of $8 billion to put his name on products and properties and shows.
Tech companies seeking investment are always wild because it’s like “our company is valued at $150 billion, but obviously we are asking for money because we don’t have $150 billion and aren’t generating any profit at all, but we could I swear.”
