Well, in psychological studies they’ve found that religion doesn’t inform worldview as much as worldview informs what religious beliefs you gravitate towards. So people don’t like immigrants & then just ignore the Christian teaching that contradicts that & decides Jesus only cares about man’s law.

Or even if they don’t think that, they should at least be able to imagine a world in which it doesn’t actually matter or affect them in any way if other people do.

I’m going to start a lemonade stand on my porch and then get on the Forbes 500 by saying that it’s worth 9 trillion dollars because if I one day put a stand on every street corner in the world, I could sell a cup of lemonade to everyone on Earth.

It’s like when Trump said he was worth $8 billion but not because he possessed $8 billion worth of stuff but because he theoretically thought that if he felt like it he could get a bunch of people to pay him a total of $8 billion to put his name on products and properties and shows.

Obviously, Ben is the literal worst, but you’re supposed to hate him so it’s easier to watch, whereas they want you to like Tao and he’s always there.

With all of his companies, including Twitter, he just bought something that was already working and then made outrageous demands of the people who actually knew how to accomplish them and it’s a matter of whether he can convince more investors to give him money long enough for them to do it.

He never achieved the level of stardom and cultural relevancy of a lot of his peers and so he’s resentful that he’s owed something … kind of like RFK, Jr.

It’s not the kind of thing that gets a lot of media coverage in the U.S. so unless you are terminally online or really into civil rights discussions, a lot of people just know Harry Potter as this franchise IP and barely even know the name of the author. But also, people don’t want to give up favs.
