Disagree. When I wasn’t in academia, the concept was still highly important to me. It’s the importance of science and exploration.
It’s so weird because in Australia the University actually does an indigenous Welcome to Country.
Can we take the boat back there? We think there are probably more jobs available there.

One very frustrating thing about being an international working and researching in another country is the inability to get grants. Most Australian grants require permanent residency or citizenship and UK grants where I am a citizen require the research to be done in the UK.
You literally said “you gotta”. You were making an argument. It failed abysmally. No one cares about you personally.
Well you just failed your argument. Because treating someone shitty is not a way to get them to agree with your premise.
At least post docs get paid. I am still doing application after application and in the meantime teaching casually (they only give us 5hrs a week) and odd jobs. All of that leaves no time or energy for research or publication because I’m struggling to just keep afloat.
