In grad school we would joke that you solve any real physics problem by doing a Fourier transform, Taylor expand, and integrate by parts, until a prof told us "unironically yes" and I think about that any time someone claims physics is some mystical big-brained science

I mean that's the backbone of finite element analysis, which is as fancy as we engineers get

But these are the same people who deride socially as not intellectual enough despite it being way more complicated than the stuff physicists work on

The real secret sauce is that the Taylor expansions are fake and the series are divergent, but we sum them anyway. "Asymptotics" is awesome.
