Much of the journalism of tomorrow will not be coming from the Halls of Media but from just down the digital lane. Always a joy to see Internet Archive promote the many projects springboarding off their efforts.

The other week I went to an airsoft day with some cousins. I enjoyed it, and I wrote some thoughts about it. The title comes from Lord Tennyson's 1854 poem which is an entirely superior work of literary reflection than mine. Enjoy: https://sideritis.bearblog.dev/the-charge-of-the-airsoft-brigade/

A thoroughly enjoyable read, as all your articles are - have there been procedural guards implemented since to guard against the wrong runway problem? Quite intriguing how much more this failure had to do with airport design decisions than pilot or ATC complications. Thanks for the share

Teshigahara's "Woman in the Dunes" (1964) translates Abe's absurdist novel flawlessly to film. After six hours in a cafe today, I caught a showing of it. We are all sentenced to something in this life, but we choose how to serve the time. https://sideritis.bearblog.dev/the-prison-of-ones-sentence/

Normally do not share my writings here, but I would like to write more and social pressure helps. I am also confounded at myself for managing to quote my previous post from Bluesky within the piece - how fun: https://sideritis.bearblog.dev/the-felling-of-tree-no-339019/

Despite modern drudgery, I do think I still find genuine happiness sitting along the waterfront and waving at the boats passing by. I smile when they wave and chuckle when they do not. I am thankful for the ducks. I breathe freer and am convinced ideas run only as free as the waters I visit.

"Declaration of Independence" by John Trumbull (1818). I always enjoyed finding American $2 bills for this very painting. It was quite sometime later that I learned of the British spoils of war adorning the far wall, as they are not depicted on the bill itself.

Lessons learned from watching "Kiki's Delivery Service" (1989) again in cinema: - Bakeries are magical havens found in most towns, - Rarely is it not worth fulfilling a good deed, - We struggle to recognize magic, even when it introduces itself, - Oatmeal is the best thing for a cold.
