I suspect more exemplars would help, but that the breakthroughs might come easier with being guided through strategies and great exemplars, then doing some makeovers on assessments they want to rethink. There is some great work happening in BC on that prof. learning but not consistent, perhaps.

Good question, Matt. Carly - is this what you see? When my students are designing assessments, we do some makeovers on rubrics, and job #1 is tackling misalignment. Teachers working on HT but w/out performance tasks designed to show it, and w/ criteria solely on knowledge, comms, behaviour.

Upshot... it's hard! Making a judgement about what "proficient" looks and sounds like when a 8 or 14-year-old is considering perspectives or interpreting evidence is... hard. But maybe better than not trying.
