"We ask questions where we know the answer, but don't necessarily know why" But that doesn't seem unique to philosophy. E.g. chemists knew that heating water would make it boil, but wanted to know why. It seems common in much research and doesn't seem very counterintuitive afaict.

When someone consistently only makes jokes with a certain political edge, I often find it hard to find them funny. I want humour to be playful and quirky, not a form of strategic partisanship. It often feels contrived, inauthentic.
The difference in quality between thinkers is under-estimated. Most texts give little insight per unit of effort. A precious few vastly more. A corollary is that when you find a truly creative thinker, you should read lots of their work, including outside of your core interests.
