Itâs been extremely windy all morning but, so far, dry. But the gardener is here, fully kitted out in foul weather gear,so she, at least, is expecting rain. The garden is slightly sheltered from the SE, which is possibly all to the good.
She must have been so unbelievably irritated by him, that even her legendary politeness must have been hard pressed to maintain.

I would think heavy rain would ground them. Overnight frost, I donât know - they will shelter overnight so maybe, like long-tailed tits, they huddle together for warmth.
No sooner do I stop one door from creaking in this wind than another starts. Plus, there are alarming thumps on the roof from the magnolia tree right next to the house.
Ours went very early in September. We've had three or four flocks overhead this month, feeding up before moving on the next morning. Yours will be flying ahead of the rain, so should get across theh channel safely and continue on their way.Ours went very early in September.
