We are, as a rule, extremely arrogant about the idea of democracy. As if we invented it and our form of constitutional democracy is the end-all-be-all.
My wife uses Tetris for bouts of ptsd and nothing helps like it.
I had a friend I had to talk off a building ledge in Switzerland because of it. It became very hard for her to want to stay alive. Very difficult. *hugs*
And remember these leaders are often working to spread disinformation for power. The things that they have convinced their people of, may only partially true or even completely false. A scared and angry populace is easier to control.
