The total indifference is astounding. I'm not sure when they perfected the removal of the empathy gene in doctors, but I have watched my doctors drastically become less concerned about that part of my body in recent years.
During the worst of my perimenopause, I got off the Western bus in Chicago and actually started to step out into traffic. The only thing I remember thinking is, "If I get hit by the bus, then they'll have to take me to the hospital and I won't have to deal with work for a week or so".
I guess you're lucky you can get the hormones. My gyno refuses to prescribe them because of that nurses study. The whole medical establishment really doesn't take menopause seriously, there's a large group of doctors that don't believe it causes symptoms at all! I've met a few, they're infuriating.
