I have some important information

Just got notice that my mail ballot is on the way. Happy to live in a state that doesn't have a propensity to purge voter rolls for ~reasons~ But in case you do, check your registration! Make sure you've not been subject to surprise disenfranchisement

Look, this is petty, and I don't even live in the city proper anyway, but having been exposed my whole life to the corruption and machine politics of Chicago I will admit to feeling a bit of schadenfreude at the moment

This is all good news! But the fatalism in the replies is worth noting. It's don't think it's misplaced, but if you want more stuff like this to stick you do need to actually vote in all those down ballot races.

Looking at comments (I know, I know...) and I'm honestly amazed how many people are like "Peltier elements are really useful for keeping laser diodes at a precise temperature so the wavelength doesn't drift" or "we use these to cool image sensors in telescopes" when the context I was in was fridge.

For those who've seen the new video, I wasn't kidding about the red fridge. I put in something like 15 cans of sparkle water about an hour ago. It was running when I did that and at 37° It never stopped running and it's barely holding onto foodsafe temps!

A digital temperature controller reading 40.5° f. It's on top of a red fridge, and the controls of an antique fan are visible to the left.

let's learn why Peltier devices are not actually very cool in this new video youtu.be/CnMRePtHMZY

Thermoelectric cooling: it's not great.
