This is all good news! But the fatalism in the replies is worth noting. It's don't think it's misplaced, but if you want more stuff like this to stick you do need to actually vote in all those down ballot races.

And let's not forget the whole 50/60 Hz madness

I make a squeamish noise and then quietly say to myself "see, the US electrical system isn't the worst!"

As far as I'm concerned, we're already there. CHI-STL required 21 minutes of total charging in my car. A Hyundai which is pushing 3 years old now. The issue is where chargers are and aren't, not the battery tech.

And needing to add some charging time reduces the amount of time you're driving? And meaningfuly cuts short the trip time? Like, I'm sorry but I don't think you're being rational here. You have a nugget in your brain which says "stops are a problem," and I think you need to get it out.

My litmus test for stuff like this is "would it confuse my mom?" And if the answer is yes, I'll make a stink about it.

I ask this sincerely and with no snark: why do you feel this needs to be a requirement? Would your life really change that much if that one road trip took a little longer? (And not for nothing, stopping like that made the trip feel faster than it ever had for me in the past. Breaks are good!)

The overnight stop was optional, though. And it only saved about 20 minutes of charge time. If we wanted to drive straight through, total charge time would still be less than 2 hours

Perhaps I have too much faith in people for being able to recognize when dumb systems are being dumb and work around it, but while I recognize eBay has something to fix... I would hope sellers understand what's broken.
