I wonder why her skin looks lifted up, almost like it's been pulled ... by muscles. Like smiling.
And then STILL said, with no self awareness, that she did the right thing pursuing a felony charge against the victim of sexual harassment and assault. While ALSO saying that the very light plea deal she made was the right outcome. And the episode just ... doesn't drill down on that.
The later episodes were a pretty good look into cops getting away with anything they want to, jails failing at rehabilitation, and cops getting away with anything ... but that first case was so gentle and even handed when a prosecutor refused to do the right thing over a personal grudge ...
I like Serial, but sometimes its perspective seems a bit skewed. In season 3, it opens with a story of "the system working" in Cleveland. While it wasn't really complimentary in that episode, there's just a casual horror to it that gets a disturbing 'both sides' treatment.
