Gen X grew up firmly steeped in the idea that if you are poor, it's your own damned fault, and any spending to help anybody is just taking their hard earned tax money and throwing it away. Dem was "tax and spend". GOP =tax cut. Some of us woke up. Many others didn't. "Oh, *I'm* the enemy! Oops!"
