That reads like a long term move away from fossils while increasing domestic production in the meantime and decreasing foreign (read Russian) dependence. I get that we want more from the Saudis and the gulf states, but I still don’t see how destabilizing the region helps.

Why not? I’m the only person I ever see wearing a mask, and support for legislation demanding better ventilation in schools and workplaces died when Biden was elected.

Again, I don’t see how promoting instability advances that goal.
