My somewhat contrarian take is paywalls aren't that big a deal, or at least no more so than in the supposed good old days when print required an actual subscription or visit to a newsstand. An actual problem is the way local TV news has been bought out by right wing cranks.

What's going on in North Carolina isn't a money problem. It's a time problem and even infinity money wouldn't make those rivers drain faster so infrastructure can start getting rebuilt. But I see we're going with the myth of indifferent Biden just like the myth of the disastrous Afghanistan pullout.
It's not great that technological changes have also taken down the gatekeeping that prevented this particular cottage industry from taking off, but you have to take the bad with the good I guess.

I don't think a lack of role models of positive, non-toxic 21st century masculinity is actually a problem. The problem is the toxic stuff tells an easy story that appeals to the same zero effort, quick fix, someone else's fault pathology that's bedeviled us since before self help was ann industry.
I'm old enough to remember when the left was aghast are truthiness, but I guess everyone has given in to weaponized, feels right bullshit.
