From my experience I'd also add please don't use the shut up and eat philosophy, some of us just don't work with threats and if you say there's nothing else to eat and the only option is something we hate we will go hungry and you will go fuck yourself
- don't use food as punishment or reward, food is necessary to exist and to see it as good/healthy vs bad/unhealthy is REALLY FUCKING SHITTY - listen to your kid! pay attention to what they say, why they don't like a thing, and involve them in the cooking process if possible! It's fun bonding times!
I've been thinking about how parents can avoid being shitty when it comes to food, so consider: - you could be a bad cook and you'll have to admit it and learn new recipes, if possible - your kid could dislike and even hate a specific thing from the smell, don't force them to eat it anyways
Luckily for me I am now an adult with my own adult money and I can cook and learn to cook whatever the fuck I want, fun times!
I wanna add I say they're bad at parenting because a lot of parents don't give a flying fuck about their children's preferences and mine never cared, they always applied the "shut up and eat" philosophy and unfortunately for them they never learnt I don't succumb to social pressure
