The yelling fire comparison was always interesting to me because it is presumed the theater goers would harm themselves. They might just slowly amble out of the room. Also, if there was a fire, it is presumed the shouter would be exercising speech, even if in a poorly chosen way.

I imagine that the young generation would back away wondering if these things were about to explode. We still have the inkjet printers moving components around for who knows what reason.

I had a screen saver for Linux that would.ake your desktop look like a burned out monitor. It would scare you if you didn't know it was software 😄

There is still the slight static of components operating at resonant frequency to your sound card on some poorly grounded systems.

Normally there would be legalese protecting platforms from any sort of exposure like this, but Musk seems to do as he pleases with little regard to consequence. Even so, Prosecution must show reasonable possibility of conviction to begin a trial, so it is unlikely anything will happen to him.

On order for Musk to be culpable, you would have to prove that falsehoods were actively promoted. Also, the community notes give Misk some cover. There used to be other moderation at Twitter. Not certain what remains of it. If Musk was rational, he would have made himself immune to prosecution.

Promoting fascism and other right wing falsehoods is more problematic. It harms the nation and causes indirect harm, but the harm is difficult to connect. Ultimately the X users must voice their opinion by abandoning the platform.

"cited" autocorrected to "cores"

The bar must be very high, and you must be able to show a clear path from speech to harm. CoVID misinformation meets that bar. Many people on their death bed cores misinformation as the reason they did not take precautions. Not only does it cause death and injury. It has a high cost monetarily.

This isn't correct because the comparison doesn't hold. Libraries aren't eliminating certain books from the shelves and promoting others. If you put a giant sign in front a bridge that is under construction that says "Bridge now open", you are liable for death or harm for people crossing the bridge.
