Happy #FossilFriday! Today I’m continuing to share cool mounts I saw while in South America, this time featuring Pelagornis! Pelagornis was the largest bird to ever fly, and those sharp protrusions you see in its mouth are not teeth, but are in fact bony extensions of the beak itself! 🧪⚒️

A photo of a skeletal mount of Pelagornis on display at the MACN in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The wingspan of the fossil bird spans the entire photo, and its large skull is filled with sharp pseudo-teeth.

Someone should make a feed specifically for paleoartists. That way not only can we see a stream of cool paleoart, but it's also an easy way to find artists to commission

The collapse of Twitter has made it much harder for me to advertise myself and my work. I illustrate bones and skeletons, mostly of dinosaurs and pterosaurs. I offer heavy discounts for academic customers. Further examples of my work: www.skyemcdavid.com/gallery

Antarctica is somewhere in that direction

This spam email is slightly amusing. We'll allow 15% of your article to be plagiarized, but no more.

Snippet of an email headline that reads "Article Submission open for Original Article(s) if (1) plagiarism of the article is less than 15%"

Yeah I sure hope it is

You‘ve been kidnapped. The characters from the last tv show you watched are trying to rescue you. Who is coming to save you? I think I’m in good hands?

Had a blast looking at dicynodonts at the Iziko South African Museum this week!!! Great Karoo fossil collection, managed by great people

Within a museum collections room, an Aulacephalodon (dicynodont) skull sits on a table. The skull is large, wide and partially reconstructed. I lean on the table, smiling and giving a thumbs up
