Politcal violence isn't new. Assassinations aren't new. What is new is the level of openly calling for targeted violence; and the gloating over it when it happens. That's been almost all on the GOP side of the aisle. Remember how they treated Paul Pelosi? Doubled down after Gabi Giffords?
It shouldn't be necessary to make this point, but food assistance programs boost local economies. That money goes right back to grocery stores and can boost state tax revenues. For states to opt out is ideologically driven cruelty.
The governors of a dozen Republican-led states — AL, AK, FL, GA, IA, MS, OK, SC, SD, TX, UT, WY — opted out of a new federal food assistance program, leaving about 9.5 million students without the aid this summer
Money for food is especially tight for families in a dozen states where Republican lawmakers declined to accept federal food assistance.

Some reduce the 2024 campaign to a contest between two old men, but it's a choice of two slates of federal appointees who'll impact your life in a million ways. Biden has staffed executive agencies with excellent choices who are doing good work. Trump will empower an army of Stephen Millers.
This thread is sending cold shivers through me
SCOTUS should have automatic background checks (for financial and personal conflicts) every five years or so, required by law, to ensure they don’t turn corrupt in their “lifetime jobs”
SCOTUS isn’t going to fix itself. The Senate has the power to hold this corrupt Court accountable — like creating enforceable ethics guidelines. The highest court in the nation shouldn’t be held to the lowest standards. Make sure your senators hear from you: act.indivisible.org/sign/stand-a...
The senators are asking Chief Justice John Roberts to "ensure" that Justice Alito recuses himself from certain cases.
I never thought that the takeaway for some people from the decades long, successful movement to overturn roe by winning elections and shaping the judiciary would lead some people to conclude that elections don’t matter
