The Rockford and Intraurban Railway operated from 1902 - the 1930s and connect Northern Illinois to southern Wisconsin. It was replaced by busses in the 1930s and most of the line torn up and destroyed.

THE TWENTIETH CENTURY TRAMP; OR, HAPPY HOOLIGAN AND HIS AIRSHIP (1902) only exists in very poor quality but it portrays the comic character flying a pedal-powered mini blimp. Wikipedia claims it is the first American sci-fi film. One problem with that: The mini airship existed and was in use.

Gwendolyn B. Bennett (1902–1981) was a prolific artist, writer, and journalist during the Harlem Renaissance. In 1926, she was a co-founder and editor of the short-lived literary journal Fire!! She served as an editor along with Zora Neale Hurston, John Davis, and Aaron Douglas.
