Looking across the ditch, post and wire fence and a field of green and goldy maturing grasses with patches of wild flowers etc adding variations in colour and texture (white patches of Pussytoes etc). Stands of dark trees at the other side of the pasture and just visible along the horizon with the cloud covered sun sending golden shafts of light through the grey cloud right of centre and left of that a wide swath of gold-coral below a pillowy mass of blue grey cloud.

From July 8-22 we had 8/9 days 30C and up (often we only have 2 or 3 in the whole year) 1x 35C/95F + mid to high 20's C; nights 10 (50F)-12C on the warm days with one 16C/60F- a hot night for us...lol That spell ended with mid-teens and some rain last week #ShareYourWeather #ABwx #garden

partly overhead view of a flower spike of Primula vialii- an odd thing: buds at the top and flower stems slightly visible through the closely packed small flowers are a deep red, the open flowers in many rows around the cluster are pale lavender. The flowers are wet from rain, background is blurred medium to dark green foliage.

Papaver popovii a Central Asian (?) poppy, medium orange single, it is bowed nearly upside down with the weight of rain, still with many water drops on the backs of the petals. Its blue-green-grey stem curves in from the left , intersecting with one of several other thin linear stems in the background which form a loose open grid blurred into the green-grey background foliage.

Wildfire hospot imagery (hot spots indicate currently active burning not the total extent of the fire) focused on Jasper townsite in Jasper National Park.

A small wildfire is burning in the slopes north of town.
Another slightly larger fire is burning in the Athabasca River valley on the approach to Jasper town on Highway 16 from the northeasr, at the Maligne River and Maligne Road junction.

A much larger fire is burning in the upstream Athabasca river valley, south of Jasper town on the Icefields Parkway (hwy 93 and 93A).
The fire at the Icefields Parkway has spread into the Astoria river valley (entrance to the Tonquin valley and Mt Edith Cavelle) and the western slopes of the Maligne Range mountains. A small hotspot has also set in to Portal Creek valley. Much of the forested area southeast along the Icefields parkway has burned.

This is an Alberta Emergency Alert. The Municipality of Jasper has updated its wildfire alert.
This alert is in effect for all of Jasper National Park.
A wildfire south of the town of Jasper has prompted an Evacuation Order for all of Jasper National Park.

Affected Areas:
Jasper, Jasper National Park

Action to Take
Everyone in Jasper must evacuate immediately, and stay evacuated until the Evacuation Order is lifted.
This will be the final Alberta Emergency Alert, even though the evacuation order will remain in effect.

Going forward, all future evacuation status information (including when to return home) will be on www.jasper-alberta.com and facebook.com/municipalityofJasper
