Manchmal fühlt sich das Fediverse noch nicht so durchdacht an. Neuestes Fundstück aus der #GoToSocialdocs.gotosocial.org/en/latest/ge...

Screenshot aus der verlinkten Dokumentation. Text: It's not supported across the Fediverse to switch between implementations on the same domain. This means that if you run GoToSocial on example.org, you'll run into federation issues if you try to switch to a different implementation like Pleroma/Akkoma, Misskey/Calckey etc. In that same vein, if you already have another ActivityPub implementation running on example.org you should not attempt to switch to GoToSocial on that domain.

Dear all: I have deleted akkoma.sandhill.social, my private Akkoma instance, for the time being due to technical issues on account of being a novice with server management when I set it up. I will set it up again at a later time.

I'm on an akkoma server, which is nice, also small. Fedi is really easy to use for me when I started many years ago, but people here tend to find it difficult to use so idk. They prefer the convenience of a one-stop-shop, despite the potentially shadier owner.

Also ngl, I remain a sucker for the visual austerity & clever threading of #akkoma — and nothing captures it other than the PWA (although it works very well with @MonaApp; just seems like a masto account there).

For real though, BSky would be a lot better if it were more like Akkoma. Including "can be hosted on a graphing calculator" instead of "it's only one server farm Michael, how much could it cost." But maybe not including "database collapses into a singularity if users breathe on it."

Pitäsköhän pykästä pystyyn #akkoma instanssiservo? :blob_thinking_fast_gif:

i.e., it's not strictly a problem with activitypub but with the implementation. e.g., GoToSocial & Akkoma can quite easily run on low resources (8gb DO droplet) and process plenty of activities.
