I haven’t read Fall yet but I loved the Baroque Cycle and Anathem. I tagged the new Murakami in Libby too!

I'm not sure I can choose a favorite - I really like Snow Crash, Diamond Age, and Anathem, but all for different reasons. I've read most or all of several of his others but none of them have done a lot for me. Seveneves was OK I guess.

Book 47: The Diamond Age by Neal Stephenson (Hugo and Locus winner 1996). Anathem still stands as the best Stephenson book I’ve read.

Going on a road trip to visit some of my wife's aging relatives. Seems like a good time to start Anathem.

Several people already mentioned Anathem, which was the last book I liked so much that I stayed up all night reading it. I also love the soundtrack album that David Stutz did.

I loved Anathem. Such a fucking weird book that doesn't actually start its plot really until page 1900 or whatever. :) I think it's not "on earth" so is less useful in my specific context, but you're not wrong. Now I'm gonna go look up that novel bc I don't know it!
