There’s a guy I used to follow on the old site who’s a director at TU Eindhoven who had interesting points on this Big one is most cargo is volume not weight constrained so the battery weight doesn’t hold you back as much as people think nitter.poast.org/AukeHoekstra...

Apropos the Dutch elections:
I agree the world is getting more complex and some people can't handle that and look for simplification and scapegoats to demonize.
Those who actually benefit from the problems they cause are only too happy to support this deflection.
However...
George Monbiot @George Monbiot. 9h
What far right figures like Wilders and Milei offer is to make all the complicated stuff go away. They block any reckoning with capital (after all they are backed by VERY big money), avoid questions of power and control and deflect the blame for our dysfunctions onto scapegoats.

However, blindly demonizing far right politicians (and oil companies) isn't helping. Understanding where they come from is more useful than outrage.
We all have different inate modular moral foundations and we yet we have to
share this beautiful planet.

My point is that I love democracy a lot more than I dislike Wilders and I will not disqualify a large part of my fellow Dutchmen. So I hope we get a center right coalition without Wilders, but whatever happens, I'm going to try to understand others and make this world better.

P.s. Understanding others doesn't mean accepting their goals! If anything, understanding empowers you to fight more effectively. So let's fight to combat climate change and discrimination.
But the world doesn't need more hate and outrage. It needs more love and understanding.

I'm curious what @JonHaidt, @GeorgeMonbiot and @billmaher think about this.

FALSE: The Daily Mail is also among those to have claimed the Volvo C40 "needs to be driven around 68,400 miles to cut carbon" This figure was corrected by Auke Hoekstra in 2021, yet the Daily Mail still reused it this summer… www.carbonbrief.org/factcheck-21...twitter.com/AukeHoekstra...
