Oh! To be this cozy! #bogbodies

Florida's Windover Bog Bodies are roughly 8000 years-old, consisting of 168 ancient individuals that were found buried at the bottom of the Windover pond. Thanks to the peat down there, the bodies were preserved so well that scientists even found intact brain tissue in several skulls.

@AJEnglish: The actual number of Palestinians killed is likely higher, as thousands remain buried under rubble inaccessible to medical teams, along with the discovery of mass graves found after Israeli ground offensives. 🔴 LIVE updates: https://t.co/twDekNZUNn

Okay, a little time today for some "interesting stuff buried" in the Fall BMP documentation. Here are a few things that, to me, come across as bright blinking warning signs and might need policy attention soonish. 🧵1/6

We found out my great great great grandma who was buried in a Cherokee cemetery was actually not Native American, which led us to find out she was a sex worker and got banned from the white cemetery due to her job.

A message from The Parents Circle - Families Forum shared on Facebook today:

A whole year of war with no end in sight.

A whole year in which, every day, every hour, every minute, disaster unfolds in our region.

A whole year and all we have witnessed is killing, deaths, kidnappings, injuries, trauma, displacement, hunger, thirst, illness, and abandonment.

A whole year of frightened children, worried mothers and fathers, grandparents whose entire life’s work and hopes for their families have been shattered.

A whole year of tens of thousands of bereaved families. Of people who have lost their entire world. Of tearful, sad, and desperate eyes. Of hearts bursting with pain and rage. Of souls unable to find rest.

And still, there is no comfort.
All this follows decades of an unending cycle of bloodshed. Of occupation. Of injustice. Of a cruel and painful conflict with more suffering, more families shattered, more communities displaced, and more dreams destroyed under the weight of violence and occupation

During this entire year, there were only 6 days of reprieve- 6 days of ceasefire in November 2023. Just 6 days in which the hostages returned home and were reunited with their families. Just 6 days when bombs stopped falling on the heads of Palestinians in Gaza, 6 days when the destruction and killing ceased, and for a moment, we could all breathe.

The leaders are trying to sell us empty words of victory, heroism, and revenge.
What victory can console a mother who lost her son? What revenge will bring a child’s father back? What killing will comfort a brother who lost his sister? What occupation will help a woman who lost her husband? What heroism will heal a father who lost his daughter?

We, in the Israeli-Palestinian Parents Circle Families Forum, who have buried our loved ones and know that they will never return, have long understood that wars, violence, and terror only create more and more cycles of revenge and hatred.

We strongly condemn all violence, terror, and killing, and we know they will lead to no positive outcome. Not to security for Israelis, nor to freedom and rights for Palestinians. We have been crying out this truth on every stage for years.

We, two women two mothers—one Palestinian, one Israeli— who lead the Parents Circle Families Forum, witness the pain and loss in front of us, every day. So many more bereaved families have joined us in the past year, & our hearts break with them
Like all Israeli and Palestinian mothers, we do not want to sacrifice our children. All we want is to raise our children in peace, so they can live, create, build families, make a living, and fulfill their dreams. These are basic human desires. We long for a future of hope, healing, freedom, and security.

For us to live, the war must end. Everyone must return home. The occupation must end, and the conflict must be resolved through political agreements for the sake of peace between the two nations. This is an opportunity for all sides to take responsibility and act. The price of this conflict can no longer be borne.

The Bereaved Families Forum stands in solidarity with all grieving families and wishes healing and recovery to all those wounded and affected by this war.

I'm curious how much we'll see for daily transactions to maximize unused cap space. Holl's buried hit nets them about $6,400 each day in extra cap space.
