Yeah and while HIPAA is ASS CPRA says don't do that. And california loves to fine businesses. I'm giving them until the end of the week to do something about it before I start filing complaints.

I’ve both worked for a toxic publisher whose HR would read emails & a gay rights c3 that was embroiled in a decade-long lawsuit w right-wing loons, and now I volunteer for a quasi-governmental council that’s covered by the CPRA. I live by this.

Louisiana coastal use permit process is officially the most efficient thing in the state. Exactly one week from submission to issuance via revisions, comments and review by 5 parishes, LDWF, CPRA, OCM, OSL, etc. Very responsive people.

Lots of action since then, but mostly by states (eg CPRA) or specific areas (HIPAA). It’d be nice to have a federal standard like GDPR. But US approach has been to go deep on a specific topic instead. Not sure when we’ll get there.

Bc the CPRA and CCPA or whatever were enacted and a lot of stylists post to IG and you own the ©️ to your image here by default they have to have you sign a waiver to allow them to share the work to socials. I don't even go to the salon anymore but I my cousin's 💍 runs one and has such forms.

that sounds like step 1 then. Wonder if we could get that on a ballot in California á la CCPA & CPRA

A Los Angeles city department just responded to a public records request by directing us to telephone a nonprofit for the information. No, that's not how the CPRA works.
