I miss my frum friends, 3 days is too long a chag.
*slides in before sunset* Chag sameach Shana Tova! Happy Rosh Hashanah from Boulda and her merry rock friends.
But also, now that I’m thinking about it — if I were to explain Rosh Hashanah or Yom Kippur to a non-Jew, which I do a lot, I would say holiday. I am def using chag here because I know a lot of Jews/Jew-aware people read my posts, so there are many levels!
(Also on a site like Bluesky chag (or even better, חג) just has the benefit of being fewer characters than holiday)
I have to ask, why do american jews insist on using words from hebrew in this kind of situation? Like “holiday” would have been perfectly appropriate instead of chag, no?
I'm sorry, did we not properly secure the Space Laser before the chag started?
Okay the chag is not yet over but since I’m accomplishing my goal of being present and not glued to my phone I just want to come back and say there are few things I love more than an atheist rabbi. Yes, they exist, and they are glorious.
