I mean the basic “pay to read the newspaper” subscription normal consumers pay for. The issue isn’t that AI co’s have infringed copyright by downloading articles off thePirateBay or whatever. Even if content is *consumed* legally, there’s still a separate copyright question at play.

I was in a subreddit talking about something inane- straw bans, and how they’re harmful to disabled people, but the particulars were silly. I’m not sure. I was just thinking about how social media narrows and divides us into consumers of algorithm-oriented content. I sometimes wonder what it’d be like if we asked each other questions after the manner of conversation, instead of hoping for a number of likes.

Absolutely. And I see that as part of the process of "the university" steadily conceptualizing itself as a business hierarchy that manages employees and consumers, rather than a community of scholars in which everyone involved has some level of membership

Nice! It’s good that other companies keep some competition in this market. Apple doesn’t need to dominate the market as that is bad for consumers.
