In the late 70s, I saw all kinds of punk and new wave bands came thru there too: Ramones, Sex Pistols, Patti Smith, The Police, U2, Elvis Costello, Mink DeVille, The Cramps, Iggy, Talking Heads, Dead Kennedys, REM y mas. All of em stopped in while rolling coast to coast. Tickets were like ~$10.
Two weeks from today, two theaters in LA will have screenings of ABBOTT & COSTELLO MEET FRANKENSTEIN that will overlap each other for a half hour. I now predict that's when the Big One will hit.

i can be a fan of the wrong people getting involved in things but yeah it mostly doesn't work. but also costello who seems to end up attached to a buncha things i love (harry smith, burt bacharach, allen toussaint) is like nails on chalkboard for me.
