We drove past the fantastic Ben Cruachan scheme today. My father was one of the architects of Scotland’s zero carbon mix of nuclear base load + hydro + pumped storage. That was in the 1960s/70s, and it’s shameful how successive governments degraded that in the fatuous pursuit of privatisation
Are you up on Cruachan?
Walked up to the Cruachan Dam where they filmed some of Star Wars Andor yesterday. It was amazing how much of the scenery was actually CGI’d out of the shots though, it was more spectacular than I was expecting.

Can't say it was Cruachan as he started in Ferguson shipyard mid WW2 as an apprentice, lots of my extended family affected by asbestos, most funerals in Inverclyde I've been to, it seems to be a contributory factor. Hope I didn't dampen your joy of Cruachan, it is a wonder of the world.
Love Cruachan, my dad was chief electrical engineer during construction and he took us down the tunnel to the turbine hall a few times in '64 & '65. For my dad's 80th ('07) I arranged with Scottish Power for a tour of the control room and turbine hall, a very proud day for our whole family.
