His gunmetal gray paint was glossy and smooth. The interior, with its four rows of bench seats, was covered in what I could only describe as "bordello red" cloth and carpet, top to bottom. The first two thirds were great, but I agree with others: that third act didn't add up. Anathem is a straight -up classic IMHO. Even though I didn't love all of them (Dodge in Hell), I'll always read a new Stephenson
