#FridayRead - Rereading this for the first time in decades, and it’s even better than I remember. Such an assured, confident second novel - the ambition to write about a whole town pays off, turning a retelling of DRACULA into something richer (and willing to go darker). A tense, gripping read. 📚💙

#FridayRead - A barrio noir that starts pitch black and gets worse from there as noir becomes horror. Lean and relentless, and the slow unraveling of things is truly unsettling - I have a feeling this is going to get BAD. (Also, I dig the blend of Spanish and English here a lot.) 📚💙

#FridayRead@rincewind.run's daily quotes made me realize it was time. The hook for the story feels like it only underlines that this is the end of the era, but I'm so glad to be back here with Tiffany again. 📚💙

#FridayRead - My first Murakami; it's compelling and fascinating, but also deeply strange; I am 2/3 of the way through this 1200 page saga and I'm still a little unsure what this book IS, really. But I'm undeniably drawn in; I just can't get a sense of its shape just yet. 📚💙

2/2 Says Mirabel: “The ‘why’ was crystal clear: I’m driven by a strong need to raise allergy safety awareness. Writing allows me to reach large audiences and, as someone who loves literature with a passion, writing is the obvious route for me.” A motivational #fridayread#amreading#fridaythoughts

#FridayRead - I will never argue that King was wrong in his assessment of Katzenbach's dialogue, but I still have a lot of fun with his books. This a great little cat-and-mouse game between two teenagers and a group of serial killers they provoked, and the result is a wonderfully nasty time. 📚💙

Today'd #fridayread is Remarkably Bright Creatures. One of the POV protagonists is an octopus, and he's amazing.

#FridayRead - I really loved THE NIGHT CIRCUS, but somehow didn't realize that it had been more than a decade since I started wondering what Morgenstern would do next. Only about 10% in, but this is lovely so far - a delicate mixture of vignettes slowly adding up to something far more complex. 📚💙
