The most comically weird Runrig lyric ever. And bizarrely, it’s from their most iconic album (albeit a forgotten track near the end). Being big as a whale would have its plusses, but personally I’d rather have a piece of toast, and watch the evening news. #AccidentalDesree#GreatestOfAllTime

New variant just dropped: British when he plays, Scottish when he retires. 😎 #AndyMurray#USOpen#GreatestOfAllTime

BBC Sport report on jack Draper’s run to the US Open semi-final:

“The left-hander from Surrey has ran with the baton passed by former world number one Murray.

However, he was unable to become the first British man to reach a major final since the Scot.”

Absolutely chuffed that the terror event “August” is over. Horrible, horrible month. The nights subtly starting to draw in, the whole media screaming at you that “NOW SUMMER IS HERE!!! 😎☀️👙⛱️🩳 (mainly cause the English schools are off) but all around you is floodwater. Bin it, nobody would miss it.

CD cover: “RUNRIG - BEAT THE DRUM - DRUMNADROCHIT - LOCH NESS - YEAR OF THE FLOOD (Runrig’s Flagship Event - highland Year Of Culture 2007)”

On 18th August 2007 Runrig (#GreatestOfAllTime) organised a huge outdoor gig on the banks of Loch Ness. But instead of doing the logical thing and booking it for July, they took leave of their senses and held it in mid-August, and the event fell victim to the worst day of rainfall in living memory. I was there, and it was legendary in its own way, but not sure my trousers have dried out yet.
The village of Boscastle in Cornwall essentially floats away during yet another August flood, this time on 16th August 2004.

All this chat about a live reunion, when the world is only crying out for one thing: a 90-minute cinematic adaptation of the day Runrig square goed Oasis at Top Of The Pops. 🙏 #GreatestOfAllTime

Screenshot of a Press & Journal story from 2021:

‘When Runrig played Top Of The Pops alongside Diana Ross they were told not to make eye contact with or even look at the soul diva… so they had a dressing room wall-banging argy-bargy with rock bad boys Oasis instead.

“Oasis had the dressing room next door to us and they were playing a mix of Roll With It on repeat all the time, all throughout the afternoon and evening, to the point we were just fed up with it”, said Rory Macdonald, founder member of the iconic Scottish band, as was his brother Calum.

“So we started banging the wall and shouting ‘shut up’ and they started the same. We met them outside and we were both saying ‘what’s all that racket’… but it was all fun, just banter back.”’
