Small-scale that happened here after a row of shops next to the creek were flooded (rooftop-rescue level) twice in a few months. The city bought the land, razed the building, and the lot is greenspace and trying to be a flood buffer now.

It's removing housing that, frankly, will get people killed in a flood, but the economics of it all are really messed up, what with the voluntary program meaning that if your two neighbors opt out, then there's an empty lot to make the neighborhood look like it has greenspace?

Part of the problem with federal mitigation buy-out programs is that, while there is a clause that the land must be greenspace and not developed beyond, like, concrete benches, is that the county/city doing the buyout can re-pay the feds and start selling the land again if the profits look too good.

First floor retail and the rest residential seems like a no-brainer. And also we should probably have less offices now, we don't really need 'em. TRAMS / streetcars. Dedicated bike paths. Lots of parks, with lots of greenspace. Lower rent for people who live there now & need to move out.

No. We have front doors, and a rear facing garage, with a lot of forsythia on the verge between our building and the one beyond. So a concrete L with four townhouses tucked inside; and greenery behind The desire is to cut the main drive (and the greenspace behind it) off of the drive.

The coyote has been back to the park this morning and even is still there this afternoon. I can't help but feel like they are feeling a bit trapped (as it is not common to see them active during the day). I'm guessing they roamed up from the greenspace ~1mi away.
