If adenosine inhibits activity of hypocretin/orexin neurons, so sleep-promoting effect, yet caffeine is known to block adenosine receptors, my hunch is that it might be something to do with a re-uptake mechanism / metabolism, meaning there is excess now blocked from re-uptake, hence insta max sleepy
