Who pays stamp duty? In practice, investors and businesses. Investors (and their ISAs/pension funds/etc) see reduced returns; businesses see an increased cost of capital.

Agreed. It should have been abolished once AIM shares were allowed in ISAs.

Interesting column. At soon-to-be-private Hargreaves Lansdown $HL, interest income ("Cash") has been their largest revenue line for two years in a row, though their business model is different and arguably more sticky with mutual funds, ISAs, older & richer customers etc.
