Dangerous idea: iceplants. They use photosynthesis to generate hydrogen peroxide as antifreeze to grow in arid and permanently sub-freezing conditions. Warm them up or splash pure water on them, and their cells will explode, and possibly catch fire.

Top of the morning everyone. British summer continues to be cool and wet with everything growing lushly but slowly. The alpines are flowering their heads off though so my #SixonSaturday features stonecrops, house leeks and iceplants. Have a good weekend folks. 🌱

Sedums 'Ruben's Lizard', 'sexangulare' and 'angligum', flowers in pink, acid yellow and white, with a white and an orange flowering delosperma cooperii from the jewels of the desert' series and a magenta sempervivum 'Arctic white' flower

My backyard, San Diego,CA https://www.allforgardening.com/836978/my-backyard-san-diegoca/ These incredibly vibrant red iceplants are on a slope in my backyard. Planted by the previous owner. I’d like to add more but have so far been unable to find a match. by MedicineMan81
