FWIW, I find that Pages has gotten really good at Word interoperability lately: it even does change tracking and comments pretty well

I would settle for interoperability amongst parking apps in Japan, different regions have different debit cards for their metro area, but they still work nationwide, so the cards we bought in Hiroshima worked the same in Kyoto and worked the same in Tokyo

- intended interoperability of offsets (ie OBPS offsets are welcome to be used within provinces with equivalency) as long as feds approve offset protocols. So a portion of provincial offsets under their own regimes may have some offsets that get OBPS approval. Protocol criteria are different tho.
I watched this interview today thanks to your post, and it was really good to see Graber's real focus on the protocol and interoperability, as well as her consideration of apps beyond just the microblog. She seemed to say there already were apps beyond microblogging, but I've not seen any such thing
