You’re so right. They’re both different people now and this meeting makes clear the character of the man Jingyan has become. MCS has been keeping tabs on him of course but this is the first time he’s seeing it with his own eyes.
#NirvanaInFire No, listen. One of thee best sequences is episode 9, around the Duke of Qing’s case. Jingyan visits the Minister of Justice, who tries to stall him b/c the MoJ thinks it’s what Prince Yu wants. But a few scenes later, Jinghaun shows up all, “Did I tell you to impede my baby brother?”
For some reason it wasn’t until this rewatch that it hit me how much that first meeting likely affected MCS. The implication is that the last time he *saw* Jingyan, Jingyan was this pretty, coltish, carefree teenager. Prince Jing is a whole thoroughbred, all grown up & about his business.
I cannot get over how much MCS loves Jingyan in every dimension. He will do anything, anything at all for him (except tell him the truth of course).
