@jerry The joinmastodon website has a covenant stating, among other things, that should the instance shut down, to give a fair warning of a few months to users, so they can move accounts. It's not perfect, but a consequence of how things are currently setup.

Seeing so many mutuals remaining on X (formerly Twitter) pretending that everything is fine. It is not fine...🔥 Sadly it remains difficult to convince them to move or even try to cross-post. Wish more content creators at least tried BlueSky and Mastodon. If they did, their audiences would as well.
