Darn. Brown birds are so hard. Maybe a Brown Thrasher or a Killdeer.

#FunFact: Killdeer do not, in fact, kill deer or other large mammals

All I saw today were blue wing teal and Killdeer. Never even snapped a shot. 😂

It was a juvenile. Hung out for a few days along with, fittingly, a single Solitary Sandpiper, and a batch of Killdeer. The latter two I've seen at the same waterhole before. But ibis was a new one for me

I love killdeer nearly as much as I do plover. They always look so distressed!

A killdeer standing on broken brown rocks, seen from behind. Its feathers are all fluffed up!

On a lighter note, we found a *ton* of Killdeer at the local reservoir. They were protesting against dredging. ... the dredging was happening like twenty feet away from them. I have no idea why they didn't run away. How many can you spot?

A wide shot of a spread-out pile of flats rocks in a body of water. Many of the rocks are green with algae. Several killdeer are visible.
Two dredging machines, one green and one red, moored on a reservoir's rocky shore. In the background the path wrapping around the reservoir is visible, as are some autumnal trees.
Three killdeer on a surface consisting of broken grey-brown rocks. Two of them are sitting down; the third is standing.

I feel like I've walked in on an anti-dredging protest run by 9 killdeer

I'm at the reservoir chasing down a tufted duck x lesser scaup hybrid rarity and there's just 9 killdeer all hanging out together on a pile of rocks that the *active dredger* has made on the side of the reservoir. Like the dredger is actively building on the pile and all the killdeer are just vibing
